About Us

Who We Are

Winona Friends Church (WFC) is a Jesus-centered community of men and women who believe that life’s deepest joy is found in knowing, loving, and serving God in all areas of living.

We hope you will take the time to look through our website and get a sense of who we are, what we believe, and how we live out our faith through ministry, worship, and service.  Feel free to contact us if you have questions.  We hope this website is helpful to you, but if you really want to know what WFC is all about, you will have to come and see for yourself.  We sincerely invite you to come and worship with us.

What We Believe

WFC stands in the historic stream of orthodox Christian belief and confession.
As such, our beliefs can be expressed in the Nicene Creed below.  “We did not make it, but it is making us.”

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, light from light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
and became truly human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father [and the Son],
who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Why We Exist

At WFC, we believe the deepest reality of life is defined by the cross and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth. Because of this, we seek to live out our mission to “take Jesus to people and bring people to Jesus.” We want to help people find Jesus at work in this world and join Him there.

At WFC, we embrace these three core values as we seek to live out that calling:

TRANSFORMATION
God desires to bring real transformation into our lives.
We want to help people connect with God, grow in grace, and live as faithful and obedient disciples of Jesus.

COMMUNITY
God invites us to live our faith corporately as members of a cross-centered community.
We believe that God wants the church to be a place of authentic and edifying relationships where believers build one another up by sharing in one another’s lives.

MISSION
God asks us to be a part of building His dream for this world.
We believe that God calls all of His followers to work with Him to embody the beautiful Kingdom of God amidst the brokenness of life in the power of the Holy Spirit.
